One of the biggest decisions that a bride faces when planning their wedding is what season to plan their wedding for because so many little details depend on that, including what kind of flowers might be in season.

Oftentimes, especially in Wisconsin, it can be easy to disqualify winter and assume that there would be no flowers in season.

It's easy to think that poinsettias are the only flower in season, but I am about to share some of the loveliest in-season flowers that my brides have adorned their weddings with.

#1: Hypericum Berries

I personally adore Hypericum Berries. Oftentimes, Hypericum berries are neglected and seen as just filler additions to a bouquet or arrangement, but they can be so much more than that.

Hypericum berries add a dainty pop of color to any flower arrangement that can enhance your bouquet to add a romantic, soft look. They can be that burst of color in the winter season that is often seen as white and pale. It is always a joy to incorporate it in my brides' bouquets.

#2: Camellias

Camellias are one of the beautiful in-season flowers for your dream winter wedding. They are in season from late fall into late December.

Camellias often come in soft pink and white hues and their layered petals add something special to any bride's bouquet.

The layered petals are much like roses, which make camellias a lovely swap for the traditional roses. Many of my brides have chosen camellias with that desire of romance when they want to deviate from roses.

#3: Carnations

If you have ever received or owned a bouquet with carnations you'll know how long-lasting they are. Besides their underappreciated beauty, their durability is one of the many reasons why I love carnations and recommend them for any of my brides.

Carnations continue to bloom throughout the winter's cold months, and they can fit an array of color themes due to their variability in colors. You can never go wrong with carnations for your bouquet and flower arrangements.

#4: Anemones

Anemones is one of the typical winter flowers that adorn many winter brides' bouquets. They often come in different shades of white, blue, purple, red, and even pink, which adds a lot of variability for any theme a bride might desire.

They can be used in darker themes, but can also be softened for a more romantic wedding look. Their dark canters always created a nice contrast with the color of the petals, with the white anemone being the most classic version used in winter weddings.

#5: Ranunculus

If you're a lover of soft, romantic florals like me then you'll love ranunculus in your bouquet. Just like camellias, ranunculus' petals softly layer on another and can often be found in various shades of colors, just like carnations.

This is another lovely alternative for brides that like to deviate from traditional roses, and they enhance the bouquet for a romantic tone for the bride that desires that. They compliment the beauty of any bride.

BONUS - #6: Roses

This is a top 5 list for winter wedding flowers, but I couldn't help but add roses as a bonus because I always like to let my brides know that roses are available in any and every season that a bride might choose for their wedding.

If you're contemplating a winter wedding and desire the romantic adornment of roses in your bouquet and floral arrangements then we can always make that possible for you in any shade you desire. You can never go wrong with roses.

I hope this top 5 list could put your mind at ease and maybe help with the decision making of which season fits best for you. Like St. Therese said, "If every tiny flower wanted to be a rose, spring would lose its loveliness." Every single flower is lovely, but none are lovelier than you, the brides whose beauty will be enhanced and highlighted by any flowers you choose for your big day.
